Captain Glennon, Los Angeles Fire Department. Since its founding, Heroes in Focus — the Rory Lewis Non Profit — has held a simple conviction: those who serve in uniform deserve to be recorded with the gravity history reserves for statesmen and sovereigns. Until now, that has chiefly meant soldiers. But service in uniform does not end with the armed forces. In the city I now call home, we open a new chapter with the Los Angeles Fire Department. The Sitter There is a particular stillness in people who have spent a career moving toward what everyone else is fleeing. Captain Glennon has it. A near twenty-year veteran, captain and paramedic, he sat as soldiers sit: upright, unhurried, direct. No performance. The face does the work. The Portraits We made three studies. The first, in duty uniform against burnished gold — an echo of the gilded panels of the early Renaissance. The second, in formal dress uniform: white-crowned cap, badge, and the bearing of civic tradition. The third, in full turnout gear: helmet, breathing apparatus, and a coat carrying the honest marks of the job. This is not costume; it is equipment. Together they form a triptych — the officer, the tradition, and the work itself. All Who Serve This nonprofit exists to honor all who serve in uniform — firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and members of the armed forces. Every portrait is made at no cost to the sitter or their institution, to full archival standard, and destined for permanent public collections. Making history one portrait at a time. Nominate. Donate. This work is funded entirely by donation, and every sitting is given freely. If you know someone in uniform whose service deserves to be recorded, nominate them through Rory Lewis Studio. If you can help fund the next sitting, please consider donating. And if neither is possible, sharing Captain Glennon’s portrait costs nothing — and honors him just the same.

@fujifilmx_us x-t5 + xf 16-55mm f/2.8 r lm wr On World Photography Day, I keep thinking about how photography has shaped my experience of starting over - and how often a shared interest becomes the beginning of something much more personal. When I left New York, moved through Orange County, and eventually settled in Los Angeles, I lost the ease that comes with knowing a place well - its rhythms, its shortcuts, and the people you can call without making plans in advance. A camera didn't replace any of that, but it gave me a reason to leave the apartment, pay attention, and keep showing up in multiple ways while everything still felt unfamiliar. That's what made this particular photowalk special to me. On the surface, it was an afternoon of walking, taking pictures, exchanging names, and occasionally stopping because someone noticed some good light. But underneath that was something I've come to value deeply: the feeling of being welcomed into a space and discovering that there might be room for you there. A sense of belonging. Thank you to @bewaremyfuji and @benhecht for hosting the walk with @samys_camera and bringing everyone together with such warmth. And huge thank you to @dianetraan for thinking of me, inviting me, making introductions, and helping me feel less like a newcomer to the LA/OC creative community. I was especially glad to connect with @ellennawong @explorewithmindy @jaimechanphoto, Jose & Yaniv. I hope the next conversations are longer. I've now lived in Los Angeles for a year. I won't pretend that a year is long enough to feel rooted, but the city is no longer as anonymous as it once was. Little by little, the map of this place is becoming filled with memories and people I care about, but much more than that, I ended this photowalk with the quiet reassurance that, after so much change, I'm beginning to find my people here. 💙 🗺 LACMA, Central Los Angeles, CA #worldphotographyday #fujifilm
