InstagramIt’s easier to source materials overseas. And yes, it’s cheaper to find what we need in other countries. Places where workers aren’t paid a living wage. Where human rights and environmental stewardship are ignored to drive prices down. But cheap and easy aren’t in our vocabulary. We exhaust all avenues to ensure that our materials, fibers, and components are sourced in America, exceeding Berry Amendment Standards. If a component is made on American soil, WE USE IT. We’re bringing American Made back, and we’re doing it with American materials.

Immersion camp is in less than 3 weeks and we are stoked for you to see what’s in store. Still a few spots left to roll with us in the woods of Maine.

Before the first bell. Before the first meeting. The factory is already moving. Which Origin piece do you want to see the manufacturing process for?

It takes more than a factory to craft denim in America. Swipe to take the tour➙ Meet Jeff. Here he’s using a stick to smooth out wrinkles before cutting our home grown fabric. Post-cut, denim bundles get sorted by style, size, and shade before going into production. Now to add some grit. Flat-felling the yoke, an old heritage technique, provides exceptional strength and lasting comfort. Stitch by stitch, our team delicately joins the metal fly to the body of the pants. Care and content labels come next. Hand-stitched, these labels are affixed to the inside of the hem. Bartacking, or zig-zag stitching, at the fly reinforces high-stress areas without restricting movement. Adding the wave of freedom to the center back of our jeans. A reminder that we do it all ourselves, here in America. Hemming the bottom of our jeans before going into the wash. Once jeans are finished, they are thoroughly washed and dried to ensure freshness out of the box. Our consultant Dennis keeps our laundry machines running. Quality checking and packaging your jeans. 100% made in the USA.

What defined communities like Hartland, Maine was a sense of common good and purpose. We explored the defunct Tasman tannery searching not just for leather, but for the lost soul of Hartland. Watch the full video at the link in our stories.

2015… Honestly being naïve was a superpower in this situation. I had no idea what I was looking at. I just knew we’d never bring back manufacturing if we didn’t find this abandoned machine and bring it back to life. They had closed the doors to this mill 30 years earlier. No one had been allowed in since… Until us. All the old machines were still there coated in pigeon shit, paint flakes, dust and grease. We only had five employees at this time and making payroll was a weekly challenge. I would meet my business partner @dedecobjj on many occasions at an old diner in Portland, Maine, where he would give me cash to make the payroll for that week. It’s been well over a decade since we scoured this old mill. Everyday, this machine makes the warps that feed the looms that weave the fabric of America. 🇺🇸

In 2015 I found this old machine in an abandoned mill in Maine. It’s called a “backwinder”. I knew we’d never use it, but it was made during WW2 and deserved a new life. I stripped it down to nuts and bolts and meticulously restored it. If you are working on your own restoration project. Be it a motorcycle or a car or anything else that takes time and patience, we’d love to hear from you and capture your journey. Please reach out to myself or @originusa 🇺🇸💪

Black on black on black. The @originusa Standard Low Special Jocko Edition is a top pick of the bunch. My personal favorite. We can’t wait to get these into market.
