The Carolina Mid-Weight Full Zip is the one you reach for when the morning is cool but not cold. Softer hand, looser knit, a hood with drape.

Slub started as a mistake. When yarn is spun from cheap cotton, it comes out uneven, thick in places, thin in others. Then people started looking at it differently. The irregularity gave the fabric texture. Allowed light to land on it instead of sliding across it. Something interesting instead of just flat perfect cloth. But what the industry did with it was the problem. Cheap shirts. Shirts that twisted after one wash. Shirts so thin you could see through them. The defect was beautiful. The execution was terrible. We wanted to fix that. Enough weight to hang on a body instead of clinging to it. Knit with enough care so it didn't twist. Substantial enough to hold light instead of letting it through. And still textured enough to let the slub shine. It took a long time, working it out with the old apparel hands of the Southeast. When we finally had the fabric right, everybody knew. We launched with one men's tee and one women's tee. People bought one, understood what it was, and came back for the next color. They still do.

Crisp linen and a favorite tank top. The perfect summer uniform. ☀️

Some things get better by wearing them in. We just skipped ahead. The Brushed Tee starts where most shirts take a year to arrive. That soft, broken-in feel of something that's already yours.

Technically a button-down. Same fabric as our tees. You're welcome. Made well and with care in the US.

Cold water, warm light, nowhere else to be. Hannah and Brian spend their weekends exactly like this on a river in Colorado.

The summer short is the piece you live in this time of year. The one you pull on for the porch, end up wearing through a pickup game, and somehow keep on through dinner. We make ours in French terry. Soft on the inside, holds its shape on the outside, gets better with every wash. Cut to feel right when it's hot and the day is long.

French Terry is one of the fabrics American Giant is built on. It is a knit cotton fabric with loops on one side. Soft, absorbent, structured. The loops are what give it weight without bulk. The knit is what gives it stretch and shape. We use it for the things that need to feel right and last a long time doing it. The cotton is grown in the Southeast. We knit it into the fabric in our supply chain, garment-dye it for color depth, and cut and sew it into pieces in Los Angeles and the Carolinas. 9 to 10 ounces per square yard, depending on the piece. That weight is what makes a French Terry crew feel different from a plain cotton sweatshirt. It sits, it holds, it gets softer through the wash without giving up structure. For summer, the fabric shows up in lighter forms. Short-sleeve crews. Sweatshorts. Tees. Same heritage, cut for the heat.
