Win a Monster Box of Silver, enter here: https://SDBullion.com/sweepstakes Coming off last week's historic US Treasury intervention in the fiat Japanese yen currency market. The silver and gold markets were up strongly in price on the week. The spot silver price closed the week at $63.30 oz bid. The spot gold price finished the week at $4341 oz bid. The spot gold-silver ratio ended the week lower, at 68 oz of spot silver per 1 oz of spot gold. Both gold and silver have work still to do. The 200-day moving average for gold is still hovering near $4,500/oz, and silver's 200-day moving average is just over $70/oz. In a bullion bull market, buying below the 200-day moving average has historically been a smart move for the coming bull run. For those of you in the bullion market buying this week, be sure to check out our www.SDBullion.com/deals page where we have silver bullion at spot deals and low-premium gold bullion coin offerings while supplies last. That will be all for this week's Bullion Market Update. As always, to you out there. Another month, another massive Treasury buyback. $12.5 billion this time. Following the $15 billion record-setting buyback in April. The U.S. government is now routinely stepping in to repurchase its own debt at a scale we haven’t seen before. This is happening while debt-to-GDP sits above 100% for the first time since World War II and 30-year yields remain above 5%.

Today’s move added roughly $1.5 trillion to the value of the gold already above ground. A full year of global mine production is worth about $500 billion at current prices. One session was worth close to three years of new supply.

The 10 yr US debt market keeps climbing; in other words, more sellers than buyers. We got sellers like India of late, retrieving hard fiat USD to help defend its devaluing fiat rupee at home and abroad. But taking the cake for market intervention this week was Japan. Conservatively blowing as estimated $53 to $90 billion on Thursday to save its fiat Japanese yen from melting down in market value. To put a one-day currency intervention of $90 billion into context, that is nearly the value of Japan's entire official Gold Reserves. That happening on Thursday is a reminder of just how important it is to keep the delusion of fiat currency values higher than they otherwise might be, so it remains. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had to take to the airwaves, publicly cheering on the yen, acting almost as if he runs their Treasury as well. The silver and gold markets were flat to a bit lower on the week. The spot silver price closed the week at $57.62 oz bid. The spot gold price finished the week at $4050 oz bid. The spot gold-silver ratio ended the week higher, at 70 oz of spot silver per 1 oz of spot gold. If you are in the market to buy bullion this weekend, be sure to check out www.SDBullion.com/deals SD Bullion's deals page, where you can get 1 oz Silver Maples for only a few bucks over spot, at spot 100 oz silver bars, and 1 oz AGE coins at only $90 oz over spot. The US Treasury just told banks to stand ready. It may step into the yen market. Washington has intervened to prop up the yen exactly once in the past 28 years. Yesterday Japan bought yen in New York, its first intervention in three months, with the yen near four-decade lows. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says it’s undervalued. That one previous US intervention came on June 17, 1998. Gold was about $290 an ounce that day. It trades above $4,000 today. Weeks like this are why we wrote the Definitive Guide to Buying Gold and Silver. It’s free, and linked in our bio.

A rate hold usually isn’t news. The vote behind this one is. Three Fed officials broke with the committee and asked for a hike, something that hasn’t happened in the same direction in almost a decade. Their reasoning is on the record: inflation has been above the 2% target for over five years, and holding steady means accepting that a while longer. Every year above target is a year the dollar buys less than the Fed said it would.

Everyone measures the AI boom in chips and power. Almost no one mentions the metal it runs on. Silver is the best electrical conductor there is, wired through a data center’s servers, power systems, connectors and cooling, with no cost-effective substitute. The four largest tech companies have guided to roughly $725 billion in capital spending this year, up 77%, most of it into AI data centers. And the silver market has run a supply deficit five years straight, with a sixth expected in 2026, per the Silver Institute.

What cost $100 in 2020 now costs about $130 for the same goods and services. Put another way, a family that needed $50,000 a year to live a certain way in 2020 needs around $65,000 to match it today. Your paycheck can go up while your money quietly buys less. Zoom out and the picture is starker. Since the Federal Reserve was created in 1913, the dollar has lost more than 96% of its purchasing power. The number printed on the bill never changes, but what it can actually buy keeps shrinking. This is the entire case for hard assets. Gold and silver can’t be printed into existence, and they’ve held their value across every currency and every era.

Currently on pace to already pass last year's total 2025 gold imports by the end of this month, July 2026. In a further sign that the Chinese are moving to become larger players in the international gold market. Today, July 24, 2026, is the often-pumped day when Chinese bank policy changes have closed down interbank retail paper gold, silver, and precious metals trading accounts. Perhaps some might buy bullion instead. But we'll also keep an eye on any increases in SHFE gold and silver trading volumes, as surely many of those retail PM paper traders will be migrating there for the gambling day trade leverage. Another important development in that side of the world's largest physical gold trade is that Hong Kong has recently announced plans to 10-fold its airport-adjacent gold vault storage and logistics capacity over the coming three years. The silver and gold markets moved a bit higher on the week. The spot silver price closed the week at $58.11 oz bid. The spot gold price finished the week at $4055 oz bid. The spot gold-silver ratio ended the week higher at 69 oz of spot silver to afford 1 oz of spot gold. If you too are in the market to add to your bullion positions, be sure to visit the www.SDBullion.com/deals page this week. There are platinum bullion at spot deals and Constitutional silver priced below spot deals, all while supplies last. That will be all for this week's Bullion Market Update. The Weekly Wrap Up: this week in metals and markets. Silver fell more than 3% on Thursday and still ended the week higher, near $58. Brent crude topped $100 for the first time since May, then slipped back on Friday. The 30-year Treasury has spent more days above 5% than any year since 2007. Back then the iPhone had just launched. Gold finished near $4,050, close to where it started. Full breakdown in the slides.

For the first time since March 2023, more global fund managers say gold is undervalued than overvalued. That’s Bank of America’s July survey, 181 managers running $484 billion, polled July 2 through 9. The survey doesn’t ask why, but here’s the backdrop they’re reading: Inflation is running at 4.2% and climbing. U.S. debt just passed 100% of GDP for the first time since World War II, and the Treasury keeps buying back its own bonds. Renewed conflict in the Middle East has pushed oil higher and added another layer of uncertainty. And central banks never stopped buying. Gold now makes up a larger share of global reserves than U.S. Treasuries, the first time since 1996. Two years of managers calling gold overvalued just flipped.
