When working with BMW, I feel the responsibility to bridge the past and the present. My love for the brand’s new models comes from my love of their archive. Sharing those stories and providing that context for people is very important to me. So when presented with the opportunity to partner on the all-new 2027 BMW X5, I knew I had to begin with the first generation X5 E53. My 2000 BMW X5 E53 underwent a complete rotisserie restoration that included the integration of a 5.0-liter S85 V10 engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, while retaining the factory all-wheel-drive system. A process that took over one year of development. This, plus many other details, has made this model the most detailed and intensive rebuild out of all the BMW projects I’ve worked on. While the X5 E53 is finished in its iconic Titanium Silver Metallic, the 2027 BMW X5 by Kith will be presented in Frozen Titanium Silver, a paint variation not offered publicly on the new X5, thus completing the past-and-present story. Both X5’s in addition to my 3.0 CSi and M6 E24 will be publicly unveiled at the BMW Villa at Pebble Beach next weekend during Monterey Car Week. More details to come.
