110 capturedWe've been taught to associate lots of foamy toothpaste with "clean." But bubbles don't do the work. The foamy lather in many toothpastes often comes from sodium lauryl sulfate, or SLS. While SLS is widely used, some people with sensitive mouths prefer to avoid it. (I personally avoid SLS in all body care products.) If brushing leaves your mouth feeling dry or uncomfortable - or you're just over so much foam - you may prefer a low-foaming toothpaste. When picking a toothpaste, keep an eye out for other synthetic foaming agents similar to SLS: sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, ammonium lauryl sulfate, sodium methyl cocoyl taurate & cocamidopropyl betaine. The Dr. Bronner's All-One Toothpaste here is low-foaming, free of synthetic foaming agents, artificial colors & sweeteners--vegan and cruelty free, too! Brushing action combined with its gentle mineral abrasives like hydrated silica and calcium carbonate removes plaque and surface stains. Sometimes less foam is just...less foam. 😊 #DrBronner_ConsumerEducator

Recently, we posted about the powerful documentary, “Land of Canaan,” directed by Maggie Lemere, which explores the lives of Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank and their relationships with the ancient olive trees they’ve tended for generations. The response to this post was overwhelming! In fact, so many of you asked how and where you could watch the film that the filmmakers have organized a free online screening at 5pm PST/8pm EST next Tuesday, August 18, for only $3. 🎬 Register here and please help spread the word: https://kinema.com/events/Land-of-Canaan-Online-Sneak-Preview-p2f94u Many of you also asked about Dr. Bronner’s limited-edition soap label calling for peace in Palestine. This bottle is available exclusively at select “Land of Canaan” screenings for free, and is not currently for sale or available elsewhere. To learn more about upcoming screenings, follow @landofcanaanfilm or visit landofcanaanfilm.com. After the virtual screening on August 18, there will be a discussion with Director Maggie Lemere; Dr. Nasser Abufarha, founder of Canaan Palestine and the Palestinian Fair Trade Association; and Vivien Sansour, founder of the Palestine Heirloom Seed Library, exploring land, food sovereignty, cultural preservation, and the work of protecting Palestine’s agricultural heritage.

Palm production can either harm ecosystems or help restore them 🌴 Like with any ingredient, it all comes down to how it's grown. This footage, shot on the ground at #drbronners sister company, Serendipalm, in 📍Ghana shows you what we're talking about.

In Samoa, people have recognized four distinct gender identities for generations: fa'afafine, fa'afatama, fafine (woman), and tane (man). Fa'afafine (“in the manner of a woman”) are people assigned male at birth who embody a feminine gender role. Fa'afatama (“in the manner of a man”) are people assigned female at birth who embody a masculine gender role. Fa'afafine and fa'afatama are widely accepted and hold important positions in Samoan society. In this video, David Bronner, Dr. Bronner’s Cosmic Engagement Officer (CEO) talks with Andrew, who works at our sister company in Samoa, Serendi Coco Samoa, and identifies as fa'afafine. Like many Indigenous traditions around the world, the longstanding acceptance of fa'afafine and fa'afatama has been challenged by colonialism, imported religious beliefs, and changing social attitudes. While the criminalization of homosexuality was introduced by colonial rule and remains in Samoa today, recognition of gender diversity is rooted in Samoa’s Indigenous culture and has endured for generations. This serves as an important reminder that gender diversity is neither a new nor an exclusively Western concept, but a longstanding feature of societies around the world.
